Hot Dogs and S'mores

Ahh, summer is almost here. Yesterday I was at a weenie roast. We took a bunch of scewers and roasted weenies with the kids. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. THe kids were blaying tag in the backyard and the adults were sitting around the small but effective fire drinking a few cold ones and having a good time.

Later, as it was getting dark, we started up the marshmallows. We had the graham crackers and cholcolate ready to go. The best part is watching all the kids turn their marshmallows into little torches. I think we ended up with a 3/1 loss ratio for em'. It was wel worth it though, just to watch the surprise on their face when they burst into flames. The s'mores were great too.

Now everyone smells like burnt wood and singed hair. I have no more hair left on the knuckles of my right hand. Nobody actually got burned so that's a good thing. We almost scalded the dog though...and yes, even the dog got a dog.

If you're reading this you either have a laptop or you need to get your butt out of the chair and go outside. Checking the map, it looks like to only ones with some cloud cover are Ohio, New York and Maine. Washington state is even pretty dry. Go have some fun.

WA state is sunny one moment, torrential rain the next. I blame it on the Chinese. I think they're developing weather machines to manipulate El Nino into a season of sexual confusion. Instead of El Nino, we're getting La Nina. And, it's that time of month!

The sun is down and it is still 86 degrees in Texas. The high today was 97. We would have burned by sun, not fire!!!

Mmmm hot dogs. I am in Texas today and the high was 103. Miserable except for the skimpy clothes.

I don't know what part of WA Steve hails from but here in Bellingham, we has the same 'rain/sun' he did.
I managed to bathe both of my dogs and try out my new weed-whacker. (It's a keeper), but I would have rather had one of those cold ones and a roasted marshmallow.

I'm with Mama, although my cold one would be diet coke. The weather here has been a little unpredictable, but not too bad. Too much wind for a campfire lately, but it's supposed to be really nice next week. I loved the image of the kid's faces when their marshmallows burst into flames!

Yup, several pyros were born on Saturday. It's like they're carying little marshmallow torches or something.

Heh, didn't see this till Monday at work. (work?) Anyhow it was a glorious weekend here, warm, sunny, breezy, blue blue sky, lovely warm evenings. Yup. Summer is here.

Great gardening in the morning, reading in the shade in the afternoon with the glass of iced balanced on the arm of the lawn chair. Went for a ride on the horse in the cooler evening air, came home and BBQ'd chicken. Nothing like a burnt bird sacrifice to the summertime goddess.

Its a good life.
