Anybody wonder why I only put up a quickie today? No? I'm always sporadic? Gee, thanks for the sympathy.
Has anybody here ever had to get a government clearance and fill out their wonderful paperwork? I don't care who you are, you ain't seen nuthyin' yet.
Tonight's completed security paperwork completed:
- Self EPSQ (SF 86 Digital Form)(10 pages)
- Foreign Born Spouse Statement of Personal History (FBS-SPH)
- Subject Acknowledgement Statement (A one page essay on your spousal relationship)
- Spouse EPSQ (SF 86 Digital Form)(10 pages)
ouch...I think I lost my brain...
Posted by aakaakaak at June 22, 2005 04:42 AMToo bad they don't use such security clearance on all the illegals....
Posted by: Mountian Mama at June 22, 2005 01:38 PMYeah. Years ago though, before you could do them on-line/electronically. I used to translate stuff for ERDA and I was actually living at Argonne National Laboratory.
Pretty funny when "they" followed up on my references much more quickly than I thought they would. I got calls from friends that men in black had visited them and asked alot of questions and was I in some sort of trouble?
Oops
Ouch. Been there, done that--you have my sympathies.
My favorite part of the process was when I was interviewed about my foreign-born wife's relatives. Complete un-adulterated pain. I don't recall how many times I said "I don't know" or "I'm not sure." It must have numbered in the hundreds.
Posted by: Shane at June 22, 2005 02:39 PMClosest I came to this clearence stuff was being interviewed by a G-man re a friend who put me down as a reference. Twice. Each time they got the job. (He he he)
Next closest: applying for work at the US Patent Office. That was 8 or 9 years ago. I still develop an eye twitch whenever I see a form remotely resembling those wacky employment forms.
All that "Kerry 180" stuff? Freaks me out. Forms. You've no idea what kind of a sacrifice that blogroll has been for me. :twitch:

Posted by: Tran Sient at June 22, 2005 09:53 PMHey JB, you can always just let your clearance lapse and be forced to flip burgers @ Sonic's on the corner of Kempsville and Centerville Rd.
Trust me JB, you'd be quite surprised that here in WASHDC, that helps but doesn't matter much. Not like Hampton Roads where NMCI is the only garbage in town.
NMCI, just another Red State contractor robbing the govt of millions. Hey, didn't you guys just go through another reorg? By now, you should be making about,....$22K less than you were making when you were first hired, right?
Posted by: P2P_Activist at June 28, 2005 04:06 AMDo I know you Mr./Mrs. State department Guy?
...and actually, it's for a different company. I was up do date in November.
Posted by: Jeremy at June 28, 2005 04:18 AMAgent Smith : As you can see, we've had our eye on you for some time now, Mr. Anderson. It seems you have been living..two lives. In one life, you're Thomas A. Anderson, program writer for a respectable software company....you have a social security number, you pay your taxes, and you...help your landlady carry out her garbage. The other life is lived in computers, where you go by the hacker alias 'Neo', and are guilty of virtually every computer crime we have a law for. One of these lives has a future....the other does not_... I'm going to be as forthcoming as I can, Mr. Anderson. You're here because we need your help. We know that you've been contacted by a certain individual, a man who calls himself...Morpheus. Now whatever you _think_ you know about this man is irrelevant. He is considered by many authorities to be the most dangerous man alive. My colleagues believe that I am wasting my time with you, but I believe you wish to do the right thing. We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start, and all that we're asking in return is your co-operation in bringing a known terrorist to justice.
