Hassan Akbar Sentenced To Death In GI Killings

Hassan Akbar, the Sgt. responsible for firing shots and discharging a grenade into the tent of his fellow soldiers has been sentenced to death for his crimes. It was reported that he gave no emotion to the verdict but stood at attention silently while it was read.

Just hours earlier Sgt. Akbar gave the only apology in the trial. He gave a barely audible and short apology and nothing more. It consisted of these words:

“I want to apologize for the attack that occurred. I felt that my life was in jeopardy, and I had no other options. I also want to ask you for forgiveness.”

The sentence is subject to automatic appeal. If he is executed it will be by lethal injection.

I've got mixed emotions on the death penalty, but I've got none on it for this guy. If there is anyone who ever deserves death it is a tratior against his own nation! Good ridance! Let's hope it deters others.

And with it being in the military, hopefully this will not be a 20-year appeal process. I still call for a public hanging.

I think he should be sent back to his former platoon members. I think they could carry out justice quite well.

I can't remember the last time a military prisoner was put to death; it may have been in World War II. I think it is likely he will serve a life sentence instead.

I believe I heard that the last soldier to be put to death was during WWII. This guy deserves it.

Duct tape Akbar to a chair, place him in a tent. Show him a box of 20 grenades. Tell him that one is live and the other 19 are dummies. Every five minutes toss one in the tent at his feet. Of course make the first fifty or so dummies. then blow the piece of excrement to Allah!
