Reality based? or Free-based?

First off, thanks to everybody for trying to talk be back down from the ledge...that I wasn't really on. I've been strolling through a bunch of hardcore lefty sites due to a web design I'm working on. They guy that I'm doing the design for is pretty alright for someone just ever so slightly to the left of center. His blog buddies are something else entirely.

So the what the hell was that last post about? It was a kick in my own ass to start blogging again. Does anyone ever get the need to just scream at the top of their lungs because of the stupidity? Well, I do, and that's just what I did. Again, thank-you everyone for your kind works and encouragement. I'm not actually on the ledge, but it's good to know you'd be there if I were.

Okay, anyway, the title: "Reality-based or Free-based"? Do I even need to write anything about that? I'm going to anyway, but do you really need more to get the basic idea? Wait! One guy waaaaaay in the back gave me that "deer in the headlights" look so I'm pressing on.

He doesn't know what I'm talking about so I'll throw out a few examples:

This article
Is Mattew Yglesias reality based?
Salon is reality based.
Here's a good t-shirt for the event.
You can even use the wiki definition.
This guy used to be The Reality Based Avenger and is now just Anti-War.
Here's one that's fact-esque.
The Peach is reality-based.

Why Jeremy! You just agroed all of the trolls! Well, yes, yes I did. It should be like shooting moonbats in a barrel. If you can find any more sites with "reality-based" in the title let me know and I'll agro them as well.

(For those that don't play computer games "agro" is what happens when you get a whole bunch of monsters to attack you instead of everyone else.)

Okay, now lets get to the point: Most of these moonbats will eat with a wide-mouthed spoon anything you tray and feed them as long as it has a liberal spin on it. Is that reality-based? Most of these people, should you get into a discussion with them (heh...discussion, right), will quickly turn whatever subject you're on into "BUSH LIED! PEOPLE DIED! NNYYAAARRGGHH!!". These "reality-based" individuals don't have a clue about reality. In fact, they're usually far from reality.

It's sort of like they're smoking something. After all, this IS the group that wants to legalise drugs, right? So what's wrong with a little free-basing of the facts? You know, a puff of Eschaton here, a snort of Daily KOS there, the next thing you know you're drinking the magic kool aid and waiting for the next alien comet to beam you off planet.

Ladies and gentlemen! I would like to declare the end of the Reality Based community! They should now be known as the Free-Based community! Any questions?

The same leftist kooks who consider themselves "reality based" accuse Bush of genocide while actively supporting or at the very least apologizing for dictators who really have committed genocide. Their #1 argument against Bush is that he supposedly lied; if there is any recent president that any reasonable person would agree was a liar, it was their hero Clinton. Leftists are race-obsessed, so they call anyone who disagrees with them racist.

Whatever they say, the opposite is true. It's not just hypocrisy; it's projection. If they call themselves "reality based," they are pretty much admitting that they have left reality behind.

Reality. Ahem. Reality depends upon where you live. For example, reality for Democrats depends on where they live (Mars), while reality for Republicans depends on where they live (Earth). It is therefore possible to have two groups of people talking about reality and there is no similarity whatsoever between the two. I suspect it may be possible for Democrats (who appear to be living on Earth) to actually be living in a different dimension of the space-time continuum. Or, you may be right Jeremy . . . Nancy Pelosi is freebasing, and that would go a long way in explaining how she (and her ilk) develop such distortions of reality. Shit. Now I have a headache.

Lefties talking about reality? LOL!

Sorry Mustang. Good thing you weren't around for that whole everything/nothing article a few days ago. It confused even me. ;)

Am I supposed to Argo you too? That's not fun. I protest.

re: "Reality-based"

You really don't get it.

Lefties, historically, have ALWAYS tried to claim the high ground for themselves, regardless of their proper ownership of it.

There is a reason anyplace named the "Democratic Peoples' Republic" hasn't a whiff of either democracy or republicanism.

There is a reason "Media Matters" doesn't really care what the media says, as long as it's anti-conservative.

There is a reason "Axis of Logic" has so little of its namesake.

These people claim "reality based" because they KNOW they have no connection to reality -- and want to make sure you have a harder time pointing that out by appropriating the term to apply to themselves.

The fun part is to use this technique ON them.

You want to turn a Liberal a nice shade of purple? Start any discussion with them by appropriating one of their pet terms, "racist", like this:
"I really, honestly, can't comprehend how the left justifies its racist attitudes."
As soon as apoplexy sets in, and before they can scream, proceed with:
"I mean, how can you justify the notion that black people are racially, uniformly incapable of doing what every other social group has managed to do, especially those of oriental descent, who were discriminated against just about as much a century ago as blacks, but still manage to consistently beat out whites in various scoring measures like SATs... If they can do it, then blacks ought to be able to, but the Left just keeps pushing these programs at them which clearly don't help them because, somehow, they believe black people are so inferior to orientals that they can't manage the same accomplishments without massive government aid. So please, explain to me: Why are you on the Left so implaccably racist?"

Step back about this point, as the blood & brain spatter from their exploding head is a bit on the gory side.

Van Helsing - aces on the projection call.

Nick - I think that's how they filmed the movie "scanners".

Wait, who's free-basing what now? ;)

I think you're behind the times -- didn't Orwell describe this phenomenon in great detail a few years back?
